The Tutor System

At King’s, Housemasters and Housemistresses are supported by the Tutor System, which has existed since 1886.

Academic staff have a Tutor Group consisting of six to ten students, drawn from all year groups and courses within the College.

Alongside undertaking an evening duties in the College, the Tutors meets their group formally three times a week. The Tutor discusses academic progress with his/her Tutees, identifying targets and areas of development, as well as encouraging, supporting and rewarding them.

The Tutors quickly get to know their tutees well, taking them out for meals or other social activities as a group, and supporting their co-curricular programme.
